Championship RSVP Directions

This email is long, but hopefully will be informative on what championships are. Please note there is a fee to do Divisionals this year unlike previous years. You must have attended 2 Saturday dual meets to be eligible to attend.

CHAMPIONSHIPS: Divisionals, All Stars & Mid-Caps

What are these meets?

Divisionals is our capstone championship meet on Saturday July 22nd and it starts as the first of 3 rounds of championships. Divisionals has us swim all the teams/swimmers again but just for time and the swimmers try to qualify for the next round of championships the next day at All Stars.

All Stars is the second round of championships and is on Sunday July 23rd, swimmers get to this meet based upon time. They must be one of the top 16 individual swimmers in the league (in combined A, B, or C division) from divisionals to qualify. Top 8 relays also go. From here swimmers try to place in the top half of participants to go to the third round.

Mid-Caps is the final round of championships and is the following Saturday July 29th. Swimmers compete against another league as well as the top 8 swimmers from their All Star Meet.

To qualify for Divisionals swimmers must have participated in 2 of our dual meets (against another team). If a swimmer is not able to attend All Stars and/or Mid-Caps they may not participate past Divisionals, but can do Divisionals. However, I encourage everyone that is available to attend to attend Divisionals. It’s a great capstone meet where many swimmers get their best times for the season.

*Because of the completed process with championships, you will have an alternative site to register and answer questions. It is now open, and has a HARD deadline of 11:59 PM Saturday July 15th. No late adds can be done, and events cannot be changed after this deadline due to rules of the league.

Please see below for process and procedures as they have changed from previous years!

Please read below carefully as we are NOT using Swimtopia for Divisional entries.

First, in order to be eligible for championships you must have attended two Saturday Dual Meets this season. We encourage all swimmers to participate in this meet if possible as it's really our end of season meet where you swim races based on time against all the other teams in our Division. The league has changed fee structures this year so you will need to pay a small amount to participate, as the team will also be covering the same amount we have covered in the past. Each participant owes $10.00 to participate regardless of the number of events they swim.

Divisionals are the first round of championships, and to continue further it’s based upon placement in events (see below for details about All Stars and Mid-Caps which are rounds 2 and 3 respectively).

How do I sign-up

Sign-ups through Google Forms (https://forms.gle/RV6o6bB9hNMjNX277 ). We will NOT use Swimtopia for this as there are too many extra questions that need answered. However, I will manually put in entires to SwimTopia after they are submitted to make it easier to remember.

When are entries due?

Entries must be submitted by THIS SATURDAY July 15th at 11:59 PM. Whether you plan to attend or not I need you to RSVP.

What is the cost to participate?

The cost this year is $10.00 per swimmer regardless of how many events you swim. If you qualify for All Stars or Mid-Caps there is no cost for those meets.

Fees are due by Wednesday 7/19. Fees can be placed in the “Divisionals” folder in the swimmer box. Checks made out to Mt. View Swim Team or Cash in an envelope with your name on it and “Divisionals”.

Can I pick my events?

Yes. Swimmers (parents) can pick their events. However there can't be any changes after Monday morning July 17th. So please make sure you select events they will and want to swim. Also please make sure you put your preferences in order for individual events in the Google Form as if you are put in a relay, your third event will be dropped.

If you aren't sure what to pick, please don't be afraid to talk with coaches!

I want to swim a relay, how do I let you know?

There is a question about willing to swim a relay in the sign-ups. Make sure you select
"yes". In order to be put in a relay swimmers must be available for All Stars and Mid-Caps. If they are only available for Divisionals they will NOT be put in a relay.

Do NOT list "relay" as one of your event choices.

Do I have to pick 3 individual events?

No. you can do one or two. If you aren't sure and want the coaches to make a decision you can also write "coaches choice" in an event.

Another great resource to help you pick is the MPSL Top 20 rankings (found on www.swimmpsl.org). I am the one that makes it for the league and will update after both invitationals this week and get it out to you if you want to wait until later in the week to decide events).

Volunteers

Volunteer sign-ups will be inside Swimtopia as usual. What is listed is what we are responsible for. Unfortunately we got a lot of end of meet shifts. You get FREE admission if you are signed up to volunteer. The host team tells us the slots we have to fill, we do not have a choice in what was given to us.

What is All Stars?

So we are in B Division. There is also an A and C Division. All Stars takes the top 16 swimmers from across all 3 Divisions and merges their times done at Divisionals together and the top 16 then swim at All Stars on Sunday July 23rd. This year it will be held in Annville.

What is Mid-Cap(s)?

Mid-Cap(s) stands for Mid (Mid-Penn Swim League) Cap (Capital Area Swim League).

We belong to the east shore's Mid-Penn Swim League. The other side of the river is the Capital Area Swim League. Mid-Caps sees the top 8 swimmers from each side's All Star Meet having a championship or east vs. west meet. This year it will be held on the west shore at Cumberland Valley High School (inside).

All Sign-ups are due on Saturday July 15th at 11:59 PM. You MUST RSVP by doing the Google Form. We also need volunteers!
