Last Week of Practices & Drag Day!

Good evening,

If you are attending Divisionals we could really use some volunteers! Sign-ups are open in SwimTopia and we need to fill those ASAP. We are responsible for fill all positions assigned to us.

Events are loaded into SwimTopia if you have any errors please let me know ASAP.

Fees Reminder for Divisionals:
As a reminder, this year there was a change in league fees for championships after we released our registration. We ask that you pay $10 regardless of the number of events you are entered in to go towards these costs.

Last week notes

As we get to our last week before championships we invite all swimmers (regardless of their participation in Divisionals) to swim with us this week. We do ask that if you are NOT doing Divisionals that you not participate in Evening practices on Wednesday or Thursday and do not participate Friday morning. This enables coaches to work with swimmers going to championships.

Speaking of championships coming up we do a drag down day!

Drag Down Day

Drag day this year will be set for Wednesday July 19th for AM groups and Wednesday/Thursday for PM groups. We may do a bonus drag day this year on Thursday morning but would just be tshirts.

Drag day is where swimmers were things to "weigh them down" to practice as we taper for the season. It will make them feel super slow, and that's the point. Whatever swimmers decide to wear they should make sure it is removable and they have their swimsuit underneath. We will ask them to remove and do a few sprints (they'll feel super fast and light!).

In past years we've had swimmers wear tshirts and shorts to long socks to even tutu's and old Halloween costumes. We've even had costume onsies.

We take a couple of fun pictures do some fun swimming things and fun relays and work on soft skills (starts and turns) as well as some racing. Its many swimmers favorite practice all year!

We do this before the last days of practice so we still have time to work on things swimmers need for championships.

Swimmers do not have to participate in this if they do not wish to. Its just a fun tradition many look forward to!

***please keep in mind that swimmers should pick things that do not inhibit movement or are a safety issue. Things like hats, masks, and hooded shirts should not be considered beyond pictures.

Have a great evening. You guys are the best!

Coach Jess
