Good morning,
Here are your details for Saturday's Meet at Willowood in Elizabethtown.
Arrival time: 7:15 AM; warm-ups will follow.
Meet Start: 8:00 AM
Address for pool: 600 W Bainbridge St, Elizabethtown, PA 17022
Mt. View swimmers sit on the grass on the far side of the pool by the flagpole
SPECIAL NOTES: playground, baby pool, and lower pool are off limits during the meet; please make sure your swimmer and their non-swimmer siblings stay off and away from this equipment.
Additional Special Note: Our team with approval of Willowood have invited a swimmer from Hershey who has military trainings that conflict with dual meets to come and swim exhibition with our 15-18s to get seed times for Divisionals. Hershey does not have a meet he can participate in this weekend and he is a teammate of many of our CD swimmers.
VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED:
(2)
Second half finish judges- write down finish order; no training needed
(1) second half official
Photography at meets notice: Parents are not permitted to video/photograph swimmers at the start or turn end of the pool. You may film or take photographs from the sides. This is a rule set by the league that we must follow.
Relays: We will be swimming MEDLEY relays this week which will occur at the beginning of the meet. They have also asked to do mixed free relays at the end of the meet due to them not having enough swimmers in some age groups. If you absolutely do not want to participate in mixed free relays at the end of the meet please reach out to Coach Jess by 1 PM (Friday). They may not occur in all age groups as technically they are for ages 11&over in the league. Mixed relays are unscored and just for fun.
CAPS are in: If you ordered a personalized or plain silicone cap and didn’t pick up last week, please see Coach Jess. Didn't get a cap? We have some black with blue logo caps for sale at $10 each; and tie dye caps with black logos at $12 each.
Shirts & Spirit Wear: These arrived Thursday afternoon. Please see Coach Jess at Friday’s practice to pick up. I will also have them on Saturday morning (please arrive by 7:15 if you plan to pick up at the meet). If you are on vacation they will be available for you when you get back.
*Please note that I will be sending out fees for those that still owe via check tonight or Saturday. There were some changes to registrations from a few individuals on the team who added registrations late and had some paid via card and some via check. I’ve been working with the host site to get them sorted out on the back end. We think we have them all sorted out for the team and can move forward. Please have your check in by Wednesday next week!

What do I need to know, bring, or understand about a swim meet?
WHAT TO BRING:
Swim suit, swim cap and goggles (having extras is helpful)
Towels (more than one per swimmer)
Water/sports drinks – it’s going to be hot so a cooler is helpful to have cold drinks!
Team t-shirt or sweatshirt
Games/books to keep kids entertained between events
Folding chairs for parents and blanket or chair for swimmer (we aren’t permitted to use the chairs at the pool on meet days)
Nutritious snacks – bananas, granola bars, fruit snacks, yogurt, cereal, sandwiches.
Sunscreen and bug spray.
Cash to purchase a heat sheet (if available) and snacks.
BEFORE THE MEET STARTS
1.Arrive at the pool approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled warm-ups (that would be 7:15 this week)
2.Upon arrival, find a place to put your swimmer's blanket, swim bag, etc... The team usually sits in one place together, so look for some familiar faces.
3.Write each event number on your swimmer's arm in something waterproof (i.e., a sharpie is good for this). This will help him/her remember what events he/she is swimming and what event number to listen for.
3a. Swimmers events will be posted in Swimtopia around 6 PM Friday night. Please note that relays and lanes for all events *may* change, but individual events will stay the same unless they combine events. [Please note we will start at event 1 this week]
4.Your swimmer will now get their cap and goggles and report for the team's warm-up. It is important for all swimmers to warm up with the team. A swimmer's body is like a car on a cold day – he/she needs to get the engine going and warmed up before he/she can go all out.
5.After warm-ups, your swimmer will go back to the area where his/her team (and family) is sitting and wait there until his/her first event is called. This is a good time to make sure he/she goes to the bathroom if necessary, gets a drink, or just gets settled in.
6.All questions concerning meet results, an officiating call, or the conduct of a meet should be referred to a coach.
7.At some meets psych sheets will be available. It lists all swimmers in each event in order of “seed time”. When the team entry is sent in, each swimmer and his/her previous best time in that event is listed. If the swimmer is swimming an event for the first time, he/she will be entered as a “no time” or “NT”. A “no time” swimmer will most likely swim in the second or third heat of an event.
MEET STARTS
1.It is important for any swimmer to know what event numbers he/she is swimming (the reason to write this information on their arm). He/she may be swimming right away or have to wait awhile.
2.Most meets are computerized. There are generally two (2) ways a swimmer gets to his/her lane:
A swimmer usually reports directly to a staging area before he/she actually swims. Or at Dual meets typically, one or two team parents will make sure 10&U swimmers get to this staging area before each of their events. We have parents that help with line-up.
The Clerk of Course will usually line up all the swimmers in the staging area and take them down to their lane in the correct order. There are usually multiple heats for each event.
3.After your child has swam his/her event, he/she may ask the timer (people behind the blocks at each lane) what his/her time was.
4.Swimmers and parents can leave once a swimmer has swam all of his/her events, but please check with Coach Jess before you go to make sure we don't need you for something!
5.Results may be posted somewhere at the pool throughout the meet. It may also be on the app meet mobile.
*After the meet your results are loaded into swimtopia.
6.Awards (ribbons) are given to swimmers and will be available for pick up at the next practice. Our ribbons for the first meet are being held until we get all of them in terms of fairness to all swimmers (they realized they missed getting us some ribbons and we want to make sure they are all available).
Questions, please let me know!
Good luck Marlins!
