Important Reminders for Practice Tomorrow and Going Forward
Dear Marlins Families,
We have a few important reminders and updates to share regarding tomorrow’s practice and our ongoing use of the pool facility: This applies to ALL groups (regular and mini team) so please read!
🚫 No Grass Access Tomorrow (THURSDAY)
Please be aware that the grass inside the pool fence will be chemically treated tomorrow morning for pests. Per pool management, no one is permitted on the grass during this time.
We will place a covering to get from the sidewalk to the pavilion.
Parents, please help remind other families (some may not see this message before tomorrow AM) and monitor your children, and kindly make sure grandparents, babysitters, and other caregivers are aware of this as well.
This is all grass areas, including behind the pavilion. We encourage you to take little ones to the park during practice.
🪑 Spectator Areas Reminder
As part of our agreement with the pool to allow for regular maintenance and mowing, spectators must stay in designated areas during practice:
- The pavilion near the diving well
- The picnic tables near the snack stand
Please do not:
- Sit or stand on the grass around the pool
- Bring your own chairs to sit on the grass
- Stand or gather near the bench by the baby pool
We’ve seen an increase in people—especially grandparents and babysitters—using the grass areas, particularly during pick-up. We need your help in respecting this agreement.
If someone other than you brings or picks up your swimmer, please share this information with them.
We don’t want to place our coaches in the position of having to leave the deck to address this. This is a courtesy reminder—if the issue continues, we will begin directly contacting families as needed.
💦 Diving Well Play – Safety Reminders
While we generally allow swimmers to play in the diving well for a short time after their practice, safety must come first. Over the past few days, we’ve noticed some unsafe behavior, so we’re putting a few reminders in place:
- Slide: Only one person at the top at a time.
Do not use the slide at the same time sharks and minnows is being played—one activity at a time. We've noticed that swimmers playing sharks and minnows are crossing into the slide area so we are making it one or the other now. - Diving Board: Only one person on the board at a time.
Do not use the board if the flags are still attached to it.
Parents – we could use your help in keeping an eye on this, especially during the 10:00–10:30 time slot when coaches are often in the water and cannot monitor the diving well closely.
🚪 Gate Procedure Change – Starting Tomorrow
We’ve had a few unfamiliar individuals walk into the pool area during our 9:00–10:30 AM practices this week. They are not affiliated with the team or the pool, and today both the pool manager and I had to ask someone to leave. They didn't speak English so they actually came back a 2nd time.
Beginning tomorrow, we will close the pool gate at 8:45 AM.
- It will not be locked, but we ask that you open and close it behind you to help deter unauthorized entry.
- Please tell your swimmers especially if you drop them off. They aren't locked out...they just need to open and close it!
- We will evaluate further steps if this continues to be an issue with unwanted guests.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe, respectful, and fun environment for all of our swimmers and families.
Thanks for your help!
Coach Jess
